Administrative Professionals' Day

Alright, so maybe it was really created by some dude Harry F. Klemfuss in 1952 (before Outlook was invented, but after Hallmark) and is actually a registered holiday, but that's not the point. The point is we were given a holiday. In 2000 the name of the holiday was changed to Administrative Professionals' day, to include the wide range of administrative support staff. Some of most common ways to recognize Admin Professionals is to present them with flowers, cards, gift cards, gift baskets, or taking them to lunch. My question is, if it is a day recognizing us, why don't we GET THE DAY OFF???
Administrative Professionals' week is the last full week in April. Administrative Professionals' day is Wednesday of that week. This year, Administrative Professionals' week is next week, April 18-24 and Admin. Prof. Day is Wednesday, April 21st.
Is it sad that I don't expect my boss to recognize the holiday?
